Welcome to the IIR

Unfortunately due to technical difficulties, our standard website is currently unavailable. We apologise for any disruption caused and our technical team is working on the issue.

However, fear not! You can still access a selection of our technical papers and other refrigeration news via this temporary website.

In the meantime, we are working as fast as possible to restore the original website which we hope will be up and running again shortly. The IIR would like to thank you for your patience.

For any enquiries or issues that you may have, please do not hesitate to contact: iif-iir@iifiir.org

About

Created in 1908, the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) is an independent intergovernmental science and technology based organisation promoting refrigeration knowledge and associated technologies that improve quality of life in a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable manner including:

  • Food quality and safety from farm to consumer
  • Comfort in homes and commercial buildings
  • Health products and services
  • Low temperature technology and liquefied gas technology
  • Energy efficiency
  • Use of non-ozone depleting and low global warming refrigerants in a safe manner.

Today the IIR has 58 member countries, with an international network of over 400 refrigeration specialists which include, but are not limited to research centres, laboratories, educational institutions, companies, administrations and national associations.

Commissions

Coordinated by the Science and Technology Council, the activities of the IIR are divided into 10 commissions which cover all areas of refrigeration technology and application:

  • Commission A1: Cryophysics and cryoengineering
  • Commission A2: Liquefaction and separation of gases
  • Commission B1: Thermodynamics and transfer processes
  • Commission B2: Refrigerating equipment
  • Commission C1: Cryobiology, cryomedicine and health products
  • Commission C2: Food science and engineering
  • Commission D1: Refrigerated storage
  • Commission D2: Refrigerated transport
  • Commission E1: Air conditioning
  • Commission E2: Heat pumps and energy recovery
